Malik Ali

malikMalik Ali was born in Harlem in 1947. He graduated from Harvard Business School in 1979 with an MBA and also has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Pratt Institute.

Among other positions, Malik worked for the Walt Disney Company from 1983 until 1997, becoming Director of MBE programs for the corporation. He left Disney to take up a full time appointment at the Florida Minority Supplier Diversity Council.

Malik was Chairman of FMSDC from 1984 to 1997 and has been President of the organization since then.

FMSDC is the Florida Chapter of the NMSDC, and a leader in minority business advocacy. Its objective is to assist minority-owned businesses and partner corporations to prosper. They have the largest MBE database of any chapter in the US with over 270,000 MBE companies. FMSDC also maintains contact with over 5,000 corporations, and keeps this database available to its members.

Malik is an expert on the business and economic case for minority business development, as well as best practice in implementing supplier diversity programs. At Disney, he was deeply involved in research on how the corporation could achieve bottom-line savings through partnering with minority business. He works closely with many large corporations on this issue, including Disney, NASA, Office Depot, the US Military and innumerable other public and private beneficiaries of procurement programs that do well and do good.

Under Malik’s leadership, FMSDC offers management forums, buyer training, mini-fairs, and procurement conferences. These have been successful in presenting the business case for supplier diversity and working with those companies to develop MBE, WBE, small and local business, veteran etc programs.

Malik has been married to Ronaa for 38 years and they have 3 children. He is a man of wide knowledge and many interests. One of his hobbies is soccer: he plays veterans’ league.

    I am looking forward to meeting you. I was also born in Harlem(1945) George Washington H.S.; MPA University of South Florida; spent many years in IT systems development and currently seeking employment.
